The rear spoiler is actually made of a black compressed foam or sponge material, not urethane as others have claimed. As time goes on, the flexible paint finish cracks and becomes permeable to water. Once moisture enters the foam core of the spoiler it's just a matter of time before cracking and bubbling of the paint occurs. My super white 91TT had cracking around the forward edge of the spoiler where water would collect. My 93TT had small (1-3mm) bubbles around the black sticker or rear facing of the spoiler. I was shocked when I removed the black spoiler and found that foam core literally turning to black dust. In my opinion the only way to get an acceptable cosmetic result is to get a new OEM or aftermarket spoiler. Do NOT attempt to refinish the old stock 90-93 spoiler. Dean
